Gary Wayne “Felix” Elliott, 68, of Oblong, Illinois, passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, Illinois.
Born in Robinson, Illinois on May 30, 1945, he was the son of Loren Kenneth Elliott and Florence Evelyn (Johnson) Elliott. Gary served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War; was of the Christian faith; he was a member of the Crawford County VFW Post #4549, Robinson, IL; and the E. M. Coulter American Legion Post #69 of Robinson, Illinois. He worked at the Payless Drug Store in Haywood, California; Marathon Oil Company as a roust-a-bout mechanic and a pumper for 13 years; employed at Crete Oil Company; was an over the road truck driver for Larry Baker and most recently as an assembler at Wal-Mart, Robinson, Illinois. Gary enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing and camping, was a NASCAR fan; Oakland Raiders football team and St. Louis Cardnials fan. His CB handle was “Felix”.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Elliott, Alameda, California; three sisters, Donna Polley, Oblong, Illinois; Shirley Shedlbauer, Mattoon, Illinois; and Sharon Mewmaw, Oswego, Illinois; one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Darlene Elliott, Jonesville, Michigan; five grandchildren, Beka Elliott and Patrick Saunders, Merced, California; Brandon Wayne Ray, Fremont, California; George Chavez, Alameda, California; Noah Davis, Robinson, Illinois; and DeAndre Ragon, Peoria, Arizona; one great-grandson, Stephano Saunders, Merced, California; his companion for many years, Linda Davis, Oblong, Illinois and her son Michael Davis, Robinson, Illinois and Josh York, Robinson, Illinois.
Military rites at the cemetery conducted by the Crawford County VFW Post #4549, E. M. Coulter American Legion Post #69 and Amvets Post #33.
